Videos: Quality Living –“Daydream”

For over five years, Ringwood, NJ’s Morning were the toast of the Garden State, entertaining fans with their signature brand of indie rock. The band released one full-length titled Breakfast Forever and a string of EPs before calling it a day. After some time away, Morning resurfaced with a slight personnel change and a new name. Rather than merely retreading the same paths laid out by the previous band, Quality Living have sharpened their skills as musicians and have generated a far more groove-oriented style of indie pop/rock, thanks largely to bassist Chris Nova and drummer George Serr.

Coming hot off the release of their previous single “Loosing,” it was apparent that Quality Living have truly matured in their musicianship under the new handle. Their latest single “Daydream” makes good on that promise by delivering even more auditory delights. Ben Oliveira and Albert Chua are gelling even better than ever as guitarists, experimenting with complex melodies. Darryl Norrell’s vocals sound cooler; more confident.  The new single is accompanied by a video depicting snowfall. It’s no doubt an interesting directing choice, but the imagery is more than appropriate for the music. If “Daydream” is a mere taste of what’s to come in 2016, I am very much looking forward to what they have planned next.
